本当にビルゲイツは言ったのか

１９８１年、ビルゲイツが語ったといわれているのは、

「ひとりあたり６４０Kもあれば充分足りる」

640K ought to be enough for anybody." or "No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer

いまや、無料のGmailの容量が2500000K。198１年のこととはいえ、大きくはずしたなと思っていた。ネットのところどころで引用されている。

念のために真偽を確かめられないかと検索すると、Wikiquoteを発見。こんなことは正式の場で言った覚えがないと繰り返し否定しているとNoteされている。
